The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is a radical leftist organization dedicated to smearing, harassing, and canceling those they don’t like. They’re activities have been so extreme and outlandish that they were forced to apologize several times, including to former presidential candidate Ben Carson and liberal journalists whom they smeared as Russian agents. The FBI even stopped using SPLC as a resource after a gunman, motived by SPLC’s “hate map,” attacked the offices of the Family Research Council, wanting to “kill as many people as possible” in 2014.
Yet they still received massive grants from John Arnold.
- In 2018, Arnold Ventures awarded a $3.3 million 4-year grant to SPLC to support litigation and public education efforts concerning indigent incarceration and drivers’ license suspensions.
- In 2018, Arnold Ventures awarded a $330,000 4-year grant to SPLC to support a court-debt advocacy network.
- In 2015, Arnold Ventures awarded a $275,000 4-year grant to SPLC to create a network to help advocates and researchers maximize court-debt reform efforts.
- In 2015, Arnold Ventures awarded a $885,000 4 year grant to SPLC to help reduce the incarceration of “indigent defendants detained solely because they are unable to pay court-imposed fines and fees.”
